Alburgh Planning Commission October 20, 2026 Municipal Office 1 N Main St DRAFT MINUTES Members present: Chair- Danielle James Choiniere, Vice Chair- John Chesarek, Brian Tjelta Guests: Luke Slomba of NW Regional Planning, Tenzin 7:03pm meeting called to order. > Agenda adjustments: None > Approval of minutes: John Chesarek moved to approve after a minor edit, seconded by Brian Tjelta. All in favor, so approved. > Public comment: None. > Flood Hazard Standards: Luke Slomba of NW Regional Planning informed that Alburgh's 2006 flood hazard standard was outdated and required to be updated in order for residents to obtain flood insurance. He presented a model example with guidelines on River Corridors--the latter being optional. If language on river corridors was adopted, Luke informed the board money from federally-recognized disasters would payout more. The result would entail more permitting and review for those developing or working within a river corridor. The board will review the template with the goal to have it ready to be approved by November's meeting and then presenting it to the Town Selectboard for their final review. > Old business: - Grants: None at this time. - Signage: Kiosk- The board looked at a map done with the help of Emily Klofft of Regional Planning of the town north of the rec trail. Points of interest were added for rec users. Parking spots, the park, and two short trail spurs were suggested to add. The historical society is helping design an informative section of the kiosk. > Correspondence: None other than the flood hazard updates. > Other business: Lakeshore Park Grill: This would entail much more work via a long-term management plan to do. The board opted to strike this from future agendas at this time. Rec Trail Bridge: Repaired with help from volunteers from VAST and John of this board! > Adjourn: Brian moved to adjourn at 8:02pm. John seconded, all in favor!
