Alburgh Planning Commission May 19, 2026 Municipal Office 1 N Main St DRAFT MINUTES Members present: John Chesarek, Danielle James Choiniere Guest: Luke Slomba of Northwest Regional Planning 7:08pm meeting called to order. There was no board quorum so the two members just discussed without making any motions/decisions. > Agenda adjustments: John had a line to discuss under 'other business'. > Approval of minutes: Tabled, no quorum. > Public comment: None. > Luke Slomba of NRPC: Luke attending the meeting to doo a Enhanced Consultation Review of the town plan. Some items of the John thought it didn't feel right about asking for increased housing goals in the town plan of behalf of the state''s housing goals if there are no jobs here. This would mean they have to commute to work and increase gas usage which is what the state claims to be against in their carbon goals. Danielle asked Luke about guidance on underused/unused town properties, and also liability questions for private landowners who may let the public used their property. Luke would ask some of his colleagues for more information on those topics. John asked if NRPC had a trail user counter we could use to gauge how many people use Alburgh's main trails. Luke thought there was a method to do that and would email us after the meeting. There was discussion on a lack of an Enhanced Energy Plan, a high density area on a map (Alburgh Springs) that wasn't mentioned in the town plan, and how the village could have up to 2 reps on the NRPC board of directors. > Old business: - Grants: As of this meeting no feedback yet from the state. - Signage: East Alburgh Lakeshore Park sign to be given to highway department for installation. More to come on the Terry Tatro Bicentennial Park sign when at least a quorum is present. > Correspondence: None. > Other business: John was working with the Sno Springers to repair the Mud Creek bridge. The group had someone who could do the work if the town could purchased the materials quoted at around $500-$600. John also observed a low, muddy spot in the trail that could use some stone. > Adjourn: Meeting ended at 7:43pm.
